January 6, 2014
Well another year has gone by which is crazy to
think. About this time last year we were waiting for the beloved call and
now I am 7 months into my mission. Also, this time last year I was
beginning the second semester of college and next week I will be starting my 6th
transfer. Oh how things can change in a year’s time.
- What are the highs/lows for the week? Well the highs were probably starting the New Year because now that the holidays are over people can hopefully start meeting with us again. A low was the freezing cold weather, it was miserable and we are in for another cold day tomorrow. We were driving home Friday night from Manheim and our car said it was -1 degrees. So you can imagine how fun that was. Also another low was we were coming home from a lesson right when the storm hit on Thursday night and Pennsylvania is terrible at plowing the roads so it took forever to get home. We were safe and made it home in one piece, it was just very slow. Also there was an ice storm yesterday and so it was super icy. A high was we were able to meet our goal for the number of less active lessons that we taught last week.
- How are you surviving the tri companionship? It is coming along well. It is fun to have a third person. The biggest challenge is just trying to balance out everyone when we are teaching in the lessons.
- What do you think will happen with transfers next week? I am 99% sure we will not be in a trio anymore, but other than that I have no idea. Things always are a surprise. Really I just have to wait until Saturday.
- Do you want to stay in Lititz? Yes, I would love to stay in Lititz. It is a great ward and area to be in. I hope to be here a little while longer. Ideally, if I train someone this would be a place. I would love to do it here.
- What are 5 positive things that happened this week? 1) I ate broccoli at a dinner appointment, I am sure you are so proud of me. 2) We were able to come in at 6 pm on New Year’s Eve so that was a nice break. We just played games until we had to plan. 3) I’m not walking in Camp Hill during the freezing cold weather. 4) I can now say that I come home next year.
- How are things going with the investigators/less actives?
- TP, Mandy & Lee... Well I have not seen any of them for a while. I text TP to try and set appointments up but they are always busy. I'm hoping now that the holidays are over things will pick back up.
- D... Well we have not seen him since before Christmas. According to TP he is in NC visiting with his dad. She has no idea when he gets back. It is hard because we don't have his phone number. He won’t give it to us because he is on a prepaid plan for his phone. So hopefully he will get back soon.
- W (new investigator)... Well we were supposed to have lesson Saturday with him and Bro. VS (former MP) was going to team up with us. Unfortunately, W had to work and was not there. We talked to him last night and apparently he was at work and did not have our number so he could not call us and cancel. So we are going back next Sunday.
- Less actives... I family??? I family have been doing well. There is slow progress but at least there is some progress. Tonight we are going to a member’s home to do a FHE with them so I will keep you posted on how it goes.
- Have you talked with anyone new? No, not really.
- How's the weather been this week? Looks like you had some snow and seriously cold temps? Holy cow!!! you are not kidding. It was very cold and snowy for the weekend. We even got an ice storm yesterday. But like you said only one more day of super cold temps and then it should be back to normal. Hopefully that is how it stays.
- How much snow did you get? We probably had about 5 or 6 inches, but it all melted last night because it was rainy and warm. Just in time for it to be in the single digits again tomorrow (Tuesday).
- Did your cars get parked at all this past week? No, not a mandatory park. On Thursday night we ended up parking ourselves because of the weather and snow packed roads. So we went around shoveling people’s walks at our apartment complex because we couldn’t go anywhere.
- Are you staying warm? Well, everything is working well and I’m staying as warm as I can, minus the fact I can’t find my gloves. I brought them in one night and I have yet to find them. So today I am going to Target to buy some new ones since they are probably on sale and I have gift cards from there. Dad's trench coat is good for when I am out shoveling snow, but it’s sort of a pain when I’m riding in the car. I was thinking that a good coat for you to send is that black one I got a few years ago for Christmas from gma Karen. I just was thinking that is more water proof than my black old navy one. I use it, but I was thinking that black one with the hood that kind has the red plaid inside might be another good one.
- How are things going with the ward mission leader? They are going good and things are improving.
Well I hope you are all staying warm and enjoying the New Year. Have
a great day and I love and miss all of you.
Love,
Elder Muir
Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of Christmas, but Sis. T took this picture of us and shared it with all of us (hence the girly stuff).
